Why Accountability is the Key to Success in the New Year

The start of a new year is a time for fresh starts and setting new goals. But as we all know, it’s not always easy to follow through on our resolutions, or as I like to call them – goals. Life happens, priorities change, goals take a backseat to obligations and responsibilities. That’s where accountability comes in. Accountability is the driving force that helps you take your goals from a dream to a reality. Let’s talk about why you need to prioritize accountability.

Why Accountability is So Important

Research shows that you are 75% more likely to accomplish your goals if you have accountability. That means without accountability, you are far more likely to not reach your goals. Why make goals if you’re more likely to fail?

Having some form of accountability not only helps you stay on track but also provides motivation and encouragement along the way. When you’re feeling stuck or lost along your goal journey, accountability is what keeps you moving toward the finish line.

Life Happens – Accountability Can Get You Back on Track

Even the best-laid plans can go awry. Life happens, and sometimes we get off track. It’s coming for work, family, and other responsibilities take priority over self-improvement. But with accountability, it’s easier to get back on track quickly. Whether it’s a missed workout or a missed deadline, having to report on your goal progress can help us refocus and get back on track.

The key is to not let setbacks completely derail you. When you’re accountable to your goals in a way that works for you, it’s possible to start again no matter where you left off.

Motivation Increases With Accountability

The biggest killer of goal achievement is lack of motivation. When you’re not motivated, it’s easy to let your goals fall by the wayside. We may tell ourselves that we’ll get back on track tomorrow, or next week, or next month. But with some form of accountability, most people find that their motivation returns.

Accountability is a powerful tool when it comes to achieving our goals. Whether it’s a business owner setting targets for their company or an individual setting personal goals, accountability can give us the push we need to stay on track and achieve our goals.
